Pizzeria Lu Golusone Pizza Restaurant

Overview

If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Rieti, Italy, and craving a delightful slice of pizza, look no further than Pizzeria Lu Golusone. Nestled at Via Isonzo, 101, this local gem is where traditional Italian flavors meet a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot for food lovers.

The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the warm, rustic ambiance of the pizzeria. With its simple yet inviting decor, it offers a comfortable setting perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Whether you’re a pizza enthusiast or just looking for a great place to enjoy a casual bite, Pizzeria Lu Golusone never disappoints.

One of the first things you’ll notice is the extensive menu. From classic Margherita pizzas to more adventurous combinations, the variety at this pizzeria is impressive. The crust, which is perfectly thin and crispy, provides the ideal base for their high-quality toppings. What sets Pizzeria Lu Golusone apart from many others is their dedication to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. This is especially noticeable in their vibrant and flavorful tomato sauce, which perfectly complements the mozzarella and other carefully selected toppings.

The process of creating each pizza is something that can be admired. You can watch the chefs in action, skillfully preparing each pie with love and attention to detail. The dough is hand-kneaded and allowed to rise slowly, resulting in a light, airy crust. Whether you opt for a classic Margherita, topped with fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil, or something a little more inventive like a pizza topped with truffle oil and mushrooms, the flavors are always well-balanced and satisfying.

Pizzeria Lu Golusone also offers a great selection of appetizers, perfect for starting your meal on the right note. The fried calamari is always a favorite, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making it the ideal dish to share with your table. And for those who prefer something lighter, their mixed salad, with fresh seasonal vegetables, is a refreshing choice.

For those with a sweet tooth, don’t miss out on their dessert menu. The tiramisu, made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream, is a standout. It's rich yet not overpowering, providing the perfect finish to your meal. If you're looking for something more indulgent, the classic Italian cannoli, filled with sweet ricotta cheese, offers a delightful crunch and sweetness that will leave you craving more.

But the true beauty of Pizzeria Lu Golusone is not just in its food, but in the overall experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or just chat about the history of the restaurant. Their knowledge of the menu and commitment to providing excellent service adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your visit.

What makes this pizzeria even more appealing is its location. Situated in the heart of Rieti, it’s the perfect spot to grab a bite before continuing your exploration of the town. Whether you're visiting the historic center or just passing through, Pizzeria Lu Golusone offers a great break for a delicious meal.

The feedback from regular patrons is overwhelmingly positive. Many mention the consistency in quality, whether it’s the pizzas, the service, or the overall dining experience. Reviews often highlight how the pizzeria manages to stay true to authentic Italian pizza-making traditions, while still offering unique variations that appeal to both locals and tourists alike. Customers rave about the hospitality, the food, and the comforting atmosphere, making it clear that this is a place people come back to again and again.

There is not enough words in any language, and not enough space here, to describe how much I like this place! Perfect, just perfect pizza. Mario and the team (special thanks to Brigo!), never disappoint. Try everything, I always love to start with the pizza marinara (a classic, tomato, oregano, garlic and extra virgin olive oil). After that it is either a pizza capricciosa, or the amazing calzone Golusone, rich and fulfilling calzone with salsiccia, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. Yes! You can have more than one individual pizza as they are made just the perfect size. Order a cool Peroni beer on draft and after all indulge in a tartufo bianco gelato, or panna cotta with a shot of espresso and amaro del capo!

Best pizza in town... get the plain "bufala", or go nuts with the namesake calzone smothered in bacony mushrooms, boiled egg, olives, artichoke pickle wedges, Parma ham, and spicy salame. Can't go wrong with a focaccia and "specialty dishes", either: Roman oxtail, tripe, porkrinds and beans, or a huge heap of clams done in white or red sauce. Never a delusion, always open late, and a great family meal guaranteed by who will soon be your new extended family, too!
